Facebook launches an acceleration platform for Nigeria and other countries.

As a result, it is encouraging community leaders from Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya to apply for the Facebook Community Accelerator Programme in 2021, which will provide participants with guidance, mentorship, and up to $50,000 in funding to participate in a project that will expand their community’s positive effect.

Kiran Yoliswa, Facebook’s Partner Management Lead for Middle East and Africa Community Partnerships, said that Facebook groups and their leaders are assisting in the resolution of social issues by exchanging awareness and information while engaging with people who share their values or enthusiasm for a cause.

“We’ve seen so many incredible communities from across South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria use our platform to drive change and provide support and encouragement for thousands of people, and we’re excited to offer their Facebook Community leaders this program to help amplify their impact even more,” Yoliswa said. The chosen leaders would spend five months learning from mentors, trainers, and a specialized program in order to improve their communities.

Cultural identification foundations, driving action-oriented programs, and resilience are among the lessons learned. Participants will also have first access to new Facebook items designed to help groups properly manage and engage their participants.

Participants will want a significant project that will have a meaningful effect on the environment and devise a strategy for rallying their culture around it. Initiatives may be presented to prospective investors, mentors, and a jury of judges in order to be considered for support and public attention.
After that, participants will spend three months putting their plans into action. They will work with community activists and politicians.

The software, according to Yoliswa, is available to communities with a membership in Facebook Groups and representatives who are 18 years or older. Communities would have been around for at least a year and have at least 1,000 participants. The application period runs from May 4 to May 31, 2021.

The Community Accelerator is part of Facebook’s Community Leadership Programme, which is a social project that invests in individuals who create communities.
