4 Benefits You Should Take the Gatlinburg Trail

Staying in one of our Gatlinburg condos has several advantages, one of which is the fact that they are only a short walk from the Gatlinburg Track, a gorgeous walking trail that goes straight into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Hiking this path is a must if you want to get a feel for the area while also getting some exercise. For anyone planning a trip to the Smokies, these are the top four reasons you should take the Gatlinburg Trail on your itinerary:

1. Accessible Hiking Trails

You could bring your children along for the adventure as well since the Gatlinburg Trail is a great place for them to learn about nature. As a result of the trail’s flat terrain and short distance (3.9 miles roundtrip), it is ideal for a morning or afternoon stroll.

From our Gatlinburg condominiums, you can walk straight to the trailhead on River Road.

To do so, turn right on Ski Mountain Road, then turn right on River Road to reach the well designated route. When you return to our condominiums, you may look forward to a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool or a relaxing session in the bubbling hot tub to unwind!

2. Directly connects to the Sugarlands Visitor Center (see point 1).

Additionally, the Gatlinburg Trail is a must-see during your visit to the Smokies since it connects you directly with the Sugarland visitor center, which is located inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

This superb facility, which includes a bookshop, gift shop, and free entry to a 20-minute video about the park, is the finest spot to start your tour of the park. Talking to a park ranger about the present hiking conditions and any seasonal ranger-led activities that may be taking place is also a good idea.

The Gatlinburg Trail is one of just two walking trails inside the National Park where bicycles are permitted, which is great news for those who are taking their bikes along for the ride! Just keep in mind that the route is also commonly used by runners and walkers, so be cautious while riding your bike on the trail! –

The Cades Cove Loop Road, an 11-mile one-way loop that revolves around a beautiful wide valley bordered by mountains, is also a great place to ride. In order to avoid sharing the road with automobiles, try going on Wednesdays during the summer months, when there are no cars on the route.

Fourth, the scenery is very breathtaking.

The Gatlinburg Trail is more than just a simple way to get inside the national park; it also provides a range of breathtaking views along its journey. The route winds through the woodland and along the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River, making it a pleasant stroll for nature enthusiasts.

You will be able to take in breathtaking vistas of the river, and the route even crosses it at one point on a pedestrian footbridge. While wandering along the Gatlinburg Trail, you will also get the chance to see the foundations and chimneys of numerous historic homesites.
